 THE WEDDING DRESS In 1840 Queen Victoria elected to wear a white ball gown (instead of royal silver)on her wedding day. Before this brides would wear there best gowns if they had one!!

THE WEDDING VEIL The veil symbolized the bride purity throughout the world! Some places like ancient Rome, the veil was worn to ward off evil spirits!

CEREMONY MUSIC  The "Wedding march" was first played when England's Princess Victoria wed Prince William of Prussia in 1858. 
Before, if held in a church it would be the Preacher/ Father singing. 

THE BOUQUET  In ancient times, it was believed the bride could ward of evil spirits by carrying a bouquet of herbs and garlic. Later a bouquet of sweet smelling flowers are used to cover any body oder the bride may have. (People would only take a bath once or twice a year!!) 

TOAST  The word toast stems from the Greek and Roman way to honor guests by floating a piece of toast in the wine to reduce acidity!! 

BRIDEMAID DRESS  Before modern times, the bridemaids would have the same dress on to confuse (you guests it) evil spirits!! Also to a real menaces (suitors who had been rejected and came to posses or even attack the bride)

THE FAVORS  It's Greek Tradition for guest to get a sugarcoated almonds called Koufeta. Packaged with odd numbers, the almonds symbolize that the newlyweds will share all and stay undivided. 

THE EXIT In Asia throwing of rice at the couple was meant to grant them good luck. Other cultures believe the "life giving seed" would bring fertility!!
